Alessandro De Luca is a breast surgeon, PhD student at Sapienza University of Rome, Breast Unit, Policlinico Umberto I, Rome. From 2015 to date, Dr. De Luca carried out research activities at the Department of Surgical Sciences, Sapienza - University of Rome with the research group coordinated by Prof. M. Monti and Prof. D. Ribuffo in the field of breast cancer and breast cancer surgery and their relapses. In particular, he became interested in therapy demolition surgery for breast cancer and subsequent reconstruction, using devices prosthetics (breast expanders, breast implants and mesh / ADM) and / or autologous tissue (large flap dorsal, DIEP abdominal flap, lipofilling), participating in clinical studies on surgery breast conservative. In addition, he carried out research on reconstruction techniques immediate after pre-pectoral and retropectoral mastectomy, surgical techniques developed in order to guarantee a woman who has undergone a mastectomy an immediate reconstruction with a result aesthetically satisfactory. He has collaborated and currently collaborates with the Department of Internal Medicine, Metabolic Syndrome Clinic directed by Prof.ssa M. Del Ben, in particular, participated in the research "Association between breast cancer and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease", aimed at studying the cause and effect correlation between the two pathologies and at identifying risk factors predicting the onset of breast cancer in women with NASH. From 2018 to date he collaborates closely with Prof. M.I. Amabile in the research group coordinated by Prof. M. Muscaritoli and Prof. A. Molfino, at the Department of Translational and Precision Medicine (formerly Department of Clinical Medicine), Sapienza - University of Rome, as part of the study of metabolic-nutritional derangements in patients with breast cancer and study of nutritional alterations in patients with chronic diseases (heart failure, renal failure, respiratory failure) with and without surgical complications; specifically, Dr. De Luca is interested in the study of sarcopenia in oncological surgery to assess the impact of metabolic and structural changes in the muscle on prognosis of patients undergoing breast surgery. Dr. De Luca is active in many societies, as ANISC (Associazione Nazionale Italiani Senologi Chirurghi) and SIES (Società Italiana di Medicina Estetica e Chirurgia Plastica).
